How do I update my Mandatory Training?

Mandatory training for all NHSBT colleagues has been transferred to the National NHS MyESR system and should be completed on that platform.

Information on how to access the face to face training that is currently available

There are a few common issues with training not being updated in MyESR, this document will support you and give some guidance on how to ensure your training is updated.

Further information can be found on the MyESR page on People First

All non-mandatory training is available via Shine Academy

What's changed?

  • NHSBT eLearning modules have been reviewed and updated to be more interactive and succinct, combining the learning content and assessment in one.
  • eLearning provided by NHS eLearning for Health has replaced some NHSBT modules.
  • Acceptance of records for new starters from other NHS organisations aligned to the Core Skills Training Framework.
  • Governance, Quality and You and Protecting Yourself and Others have been split into shorter individual modules for each of the subject areas (7 in total).
  • Fire Awareness, Health, Safety and Wellbeing for Managers / Leaders for new starters - compliance achieved through eLearning but follow up attendance of the relevant face to face course is required.

Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF)

Skills for Health Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF) allows employers to recognise statutory/mandatory training to a standard, trust that information and reduce duplication of training.  NHSBT has aligned the following mandatory training to CSTF and will accept these records for New Starters joining from other NHS organisations.

  • Adult Basic Life Support
  • Conflict Resolution Awareness
  • Data Security Awareness (Information Governance)
  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Infection Prevention and Control Awareness - Level 1
  • Manual Handling Awareness
  • Safeguarding Awareness Level 1
  • Safeguarding Level 2
  • Safeguarding Level 3

New Starters

New Starters will be required to attend some face to face mandatory training:

Corporate (ALL)

Role Specific

*These courses will be organised locally by your manager.

In order to be fully compliant, new starters will also have to complete some e-learning mandatory training. This will be indicated on their Shine Academy account.
